I am a Malaysian currently on a one-year working assignment abroad. I would like to bring the following issues to the relevant authorities.
The first is on the Election Commission.
As a registered voter who is working abroad, I would like to fulfill my responsibilities in voting at the general election. I tried to find out how I can vote by visiting the EC's website , and to my dismay there is no information on the matter. I then tried to email them, asking how can I vote by postal ballot.
I waited and waited, and after four weeks, still no reply. This is so disappointing. Here we are talking about being efficient and being the very best, but I could not get a simple reply from them. I am really sad and worried on how we are going to compete with other countries, especially our neighbours, if this is the case.
The second issue is while on my flight to the US recently, I watched a sports channel which showed the International Mount Kinabalu climb competition. There were competitors from all over the world, including the world's number one woman athlete. To my surprise, she was beaten by our very own Malaysian climber.
We actually have a world beater in our very backyard. However, I am not really sure why this was never highlighted by the press or the Sports Ministry.
I am sure with enough guidance and money invested in her, she will be able to contest around the world as well.
