For many years now, the BN propaganda machinery has been pressing the theme that "Anwar Ibrahim is now forgotten by the people" and "Keadilan is dead". Yet, the fact that they still have to market the same theme four years after they have started it reveals several interesting dimensions in Malaysian politics:

One, if Anwar has indeed been "forgotten" and Keadilan "dead", then the continuing propaganda campaign against Anwar and Keadilan shows that the powers-that-be still secretly feel haunted by the ideas and spirit of Anwar, reformasi and Keadilan;

Two, if Anwar has not been "forgotten" and neither is Keadilan "dead", then the propaganda campaign that claim otherwise is a grand and dishonest attempt at mass deception;

Three, whatever the truth on the ground, the simple fact that the powers-that-be feel the need to sustain the anti-Anwar and anti-Keadilan campaign for some four years shows that it lacks self confidence about the efficacy and effectiveness of its propaganda system, techniques and personnel. In other words, the powers-that-be are still not sure if Anwar has been "forgotten" by the people, or if Keadilan is indeed "dead".

Four, if Anwar has indeed been "forgotten" and Keadilan "dead", the continuing propaganda campaign is indeed silly, misconceived, misdirected and counterproductive - even from the vantage point of the powers-that-be - because it only serves to revive the popular memory, interests and debates;

Five, for the BN to concentrate on Anwar bashing and anti-Keadilan campaign only shows to the people that the ruling coalition and its writers have no more positive ideas and new issues other than negative attacks and black propaganda against the opposition. In political parlance, it is called "bankrupt of ideas and issues".

My personal observation is that Anwar is still very much alive in popular memory on the ground (including myself), and Keadilan is also not dead as claimed. We keep quiet because we want to enjoy seeing propagandists deluding themselves and their paymasters in an orgy of panic.
