As much as I would like to vote for our new prime minister and the BN, I am afraid after 22 years of deep frustration my vote will have to go to the opposition. As outlined by Disillusioned , we have been conned so many times after each elections that I have stopped believing whatever those clowns in BN say.

One may not like the DAP or PAS but at least these parties stuck with their political principles. On the other hand, MCA and Gerakan have compromised the well-being of the non-Malays, and one of the issues that has really created a lot of apprehension is the Islamic state issue.

No one has started to tinker with the constitution yet so no matter what the government may say, I always tell my friends that we are a secular state. Even under the present scenario, non-Muslims have started to feel the bite - over zealous religious officers arresting young couples for holding hands, the re-location of Chinese stalls, the keeping of dogs, etc.

I am sure that with a more than two-third majority in Parliament, there will come a day when Umno will see fit to change the constitution so as to upstage PAS. It is not difficult to foresee Ong Ka Ting, Lim Keng Yaik, Samy Vellu and the other component parties in the BN putting up their hands to support the change from a secular to an Islamic state.

Can this be a reality in the foreseeable future? You bet it can.
