With our Malaysian elections round the corner, political parties are raising issue after issue to fish for votes. Perhaps it is time to ask ourselves, are these issues all that important right now?

Perhaps we Malaysians should seriously look into the merits of a two-party system not unlike that practised in the US and Britain. I am sure this system has a lot of merits as whichever party which acts as the opposition will be a credible one. This type of system will also give better checks and balances.

So fellow Malaysians, I urge you to give this a thought. If you think this is what we should work towards, then start voting in a credible opposition so that over the next few elections, we can switch to a two-party system of government.

This, right now, I feel is more important than the matter of 'issues' as it will lay a strong foundation for a better Malaysia in the future.
