I wish that PAS retains Kelantan and Terengganu state control, but at a reduced margin, to give the religious leaders notice against being too hardline.

I wish PAS and Keadilan together win the Kedah state control, but only that PAS wins a plurality (fewer than 50 percent) and a majority only when in combination with Keadilan. This way BN would be warned to clean itself up seriously. PAS would be kept alert that it does not have a

carte blanche. And Keadilan would be forced to think hard, define, and communicate with crystal clarity where it stands when PAS symbolically tries to push through a set of Islamic state laws in Kedah before the next election.

I wish the opposition to break BN's two-thirds majority of state seats in Penang, but at equal costs to all BN parties. This would serve as a warning to them that they all share responsibilities in bulldozing through Penang Outer Ring Road, Butterworth Outer Ring Road, Little India, and in refusing to push for more schools where needed. Handing water resources over to the federal government is an admission and betrayal of their fear that an opposition takeover of Penang is not far away.

I wish DAP and Keadilan-PRM each win two percent more votes, but again win about equal shares of votes (increasing from about 13 percent in 1999 to 15 percent in 2004) so that both would respect each others more in the next election.

And also that they would beat MCA (14 percent in 1999) in the percentage of shares they win, giving serious warning to MCA that being a puppet of Umno will only make it more and more irrelevant. Also to close the gap with PAS so as to give a friendly reminder to the religious leaders in PAS (15 percent last time) that double the number of voters who vote for the opposition do not necessarily agree with PAS' Islamic state agenda.

Lastly, I wish that all of the above is not a pipedream.
