Race politics is obviously here to stay in Malaysia after yesterday's polls. Anwar Ibrahim had a chance in Umno to change that from within Umno but he was more interested in power and not an Islamic revival that could reform race-centric Umno.

PAS had a chance after the Mahathir-Anwar debacle in 1998 to get their act together to capture Malay votes with a different Islam.

This election should send them a clear message to them that their Islam is not relevant to the Malays and it frightens all Malaysians. Revamp or suffer oblivion.

And for as long as Umno is racist, so would to be Malaysia.
