Pak Lah's massive victory and the routing of the opposition in the country's 11 th general election is reminiscent of Prophet Mohammad's (PBUH) bloodless victory in the conquest of Mecca. Instead of taking revenge upon his hardcore foes, except for a few, the Prophet forgave them all.
Thus all Meccans were humbled not by the strength of the army but by the incomparable compassion shown by the prophet.
The massive victory of BN will make it harder now for the opposition to continue fighting for Anwar Ibrahim. I hope Pak Lah will not be intoxicated with his new found power and the mandate the people have given him to deny the right of Anwar Ibrahim to a fair trial.
Pak Lah will be loved and respected by a lot more Malaysians if he releases Anwar Ibrahim from jail or at least show some compassion in allowing Anwar to receive the urgent medical treatment he requires.
A great leader is he who shows mercy and compassion at the height of authority and power.
