The Kings's royal address at the opening of the 11th Parliament session for ulama to do more than preach strike me as incredibly brilliant.

The government should make it compulsory for the ulama to tackle social problems. Make the ulama deal with the drug addicts, single mothers, teen pregnancy, Aids patients, the handicapped and the hardcore poor.

It's easy to preach and not have to do anything. Most of the ulama just preach and don't actually have to solve the problems of the people. This is part of the reason why people like Niz Aziz make religious pronouncement so easily.

If they had to actually help solve the problems of the poor, the unfortunate and the ignorant, maybe then they'll understand why rash comments about freedom and choice are both damaging and unhelpful
