I refer to the recent article by Zahid Abbas entitled True Islam Hadhari the only way forward . I find it strange that the writer puts the blame on Wahhabism for the current state of affairs of Muslims (especially in Malaysia).

I am also appalled as he so easily points fingers to the Wahhabi sect for our own wrongdoings.

It is obligatory upon all Muslims to follow the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings upon him), according to the way of the righteous salaf who followed the guidance of the Prophet (peace and blessings upon him), the Sahabaah (companions of the Prophet) and those who followed them.

These people are called Ahl Sunnah Wal Jamaah (the people of the Sunnah and the Community). Everyone who follows the way brought by the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings upon him) is one of them.

With regard to the word 'Wahhabi', some people use this word to refer to the message of Shaykh Muhammad ibn Abd Al-Wahhaab ibn Sulayman Al-Tameemi Al-Hanbali (may Allah have mercy on him). They call him and his followers Wahhabis.

Everyone who has knowledge of the movement of Shaykh Muhammad ibn Abd Al-Wahhaab (may Allah have mercy on him) and his message knows that he sought to spread the message of pure Tawheed (the concept of Oneness of God) and to warn against shirk and bid'ahs (innovation) in all its forms.

Wahhabism is not a new way or a new school of thought; rather it is a call to Tawheed and the revival of aspects of the religion that has been forgotten.

Those who do not acknowledge this do so either out of ignorance, blind imitation of others, or jealousy. They are stubborn in following their own whims and desires or adherence to traditions (which is so common in this Bolehland), bid'ah and evil actions that go against the evidence of Syariah.

What we have to do is to be wary of those who warn us against Wahhabi, because they are warning us against following the truth and the early generation of this ummah .

Applying the word 'Wahhabi' to those who adhere to correct belief and warning people against them is the way of the ignorant and biased.

The writer further compliments Islam Hadhari. Whilst, its intention may be 'good', however, its words do not correspond with the actions.

It isn't just enough to preach. One has to practice Islam in accordance to the noble Quran and the Sunnah. As we have all noticed, there are so many issues currently that do not conform to the true teachings of Islam, or Islam Hadhari for that matter.

In Islam, there is no such thing as Islam Hadhari, Islam Umno or Islam PAS.

Islam is Islam, based on the noble Quran and the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings upon him). This is what we generally term the people of the Ahl Sunnah Wal Jamaah and not the people of Islam Hadhari.

Finally, I refute the claims of those who accuse some people of Wahhabism by quoting the words of Shaykh Mullah Imran who was a Shiite, but Allah guided him to the Sunnah.

He said: 'If the follower of Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings upon him) is a Wahhabi, then I affirm that I am a Wahhabi'.

Dear Zahid, you may also call me another Wahhabi, if you wish.
