The government has announced their approval for a second link to Penang . At the same time, work on a highway from Kuantan to Kuala Terengganu will start before the end of the year.
Unfortunately, this highway will not reach Kelantan. The reason is very obvious as an opposition party is in control of Kelantan. If one is talking about 'third world mentality,' then this kind of thinking by the Barisan Nasional government would win first prize!
It is as if the Kelantanese do not pay taxes or belong to this country. They are treated as if they are second-class citizens and therefore are not worthy of the facilities enjoyed by other states.
In the latest budget, emphasis is being given to develop the east coast states of peninsular Malaysia, but what is not stated is that Kelantan will be left out.
Kelantan is noted for human talent, especially the bumiputera business people who thrive all over the world on their own. But this has somehow escaped the notice of our government.
Politics, rather than human resource development, reigns supreme in any consideration of theirs. It is dirty politics at its dirtiest, and it has hurt the bumiputera community in Kelantan for generations to come.
Now Terengganu is the 'blue-eyed boy' of the government. I only hope that should BN lose the state in the next general election, they won't resort to closing the highway.
