I refer to my delirious friend's letter who wrote under the pseudonym of 'Delirium' with the title Hard to imagine being in Anwar's shoes .

Unlike some people who hide behind a few alphabets, Anwar Ibrahim sympathisers like yours truly tend to expose ourselves with our true names. I am a citizen of this country, voted for the present government in the recent general election and am as patriotic about this land as any other person out there.

I just happen to be a supporter of Anwar Ibrahim for the very obvious reasons that I see in him qualities of a leader who has the characteristics and background to lead this nation.

We can't turn back the clock and wish that everything that had happened had not. Whatever has transpired will be recorded forever in the passage of time.

Any Tom, Dick or Harry or for the matter Ahmad, Ah Seng or Samy can say whatever they please under a pseudonym, safe from retribution, etc.

The question I would like to pose to Delirium is this: Who do you think calls the shots when it comes to a final decision on anything?

If you were prime minister, would you allow your deputy to decide anything and everything?

We all know that the (former) chief executive officer of Malaysia Incorporated had the final say and don't anyone else try to impose their will. See what happened.

Anwar is here to stay, he's a force to be reckoned with. He's still respected by citizens of this nation. We all also know that he's not going to be in the ruling party.

If he does nurture the thought of returning to the party that crucified him, I'll be really disillusioned with him. Not delirious but totally disillusioned, for in the measure of a man, there is such a thing called self-dignity.

But I believe that Anwar will be an effective opposition leader, to galvanise corrective measures to make this nation be more progressive in having the present government always alert, attentive and up to mark with the aspirations of the nation.

And there are some people who would question Anwar of the sexual crime he was acquitted of. I would like to ask, in our present times, are there any sin-free persons around? You and me included ... are we all so pure, so holy-moly?

Jesus Christ or Esa, the Son of Mariam (PBUH) is reported to have told people who wanted to stone an adulterous woman, 'Let he who has no sin in him be the first to cast the stone!'.

Let's leave Anwar to chart his own course for the future. Whether he gets a second shot at being the leader of this nation, it's not up to you or me.

Twenty-two million Malaysians have that deciding power in the next general election.
