Clearly, education is a tool for the poor estate Indians to break out of their misery. The letters Time to phase out Tamil schools and Politicians benefit from Tamil schools highlight how the future of the poor estate Indians has been largely compromised.
They have been made sacrificial goats by the political party that supposedly claims to champion the cause of all Indian Malaysians.
If the role of Tamil schools is to keep Tamil 'alive', then make it compulsory for Indian Malaysian students in all national-type schools to sit for Tamil both as a subject and a exam.
This way, the Indians will not only forget their mother tongue but will also be able to cquire other language skill to be able to move up in life with confidence.
The political party that claims to champion the cause of Indian Malaysians must be prepared to reinvent itself to better represent the Indian community as a whole. It should stop justifying its existence by continuing to suppress the development of the poor estate Indians.
