I refer to the letter Vernacular education has kept Malaysians divided .

I disagree strongly with the writer's conclusions as to the cause of disunity amongst the major races in our beloved country. I, for one, am proud to be a Malaysian despite all the divisive political laws and policies promulgated by the Barisan Nasional government.

I contend, and I believe this has been stated earlier, that the cause of divisiveness is political in nature.

I don't believe that I need to list down all the government's policies and laws that cause divisiveness. There are many and varied. Anyone can see through it. Besides political, we also have to face divisive policies with regards to religion.

Hence, just attributing disunity amongst the major races to vernacular schools is naive simplicity in itself.
