I refer to the letter Jawi officers, keep up the good work .
I think what everyone is concerned is whether the raid by the Jabatan Agama Islam Wilayah Persekutuan was legal or otherwise. A minister said it was legal (I am not so sure of that) and added the attorney-general was free to investigate.
What is more important is what happened after the raid. Are Jawi officers empowered to lock people up in a room in their office? Is this so-called 'lock-up' a legal one and gazetted?
What about the treatment they meted out to the ladies detained - was it legal and humane? What is Suhakam doing about the raid? Are they scared to investigate because religion is involved?
All these questions need to be answered.
