Why not ask Pakatan reps what they plan to do about Dash?

Pakatan Harapan is behaving like a petulant child, defiantly blaming everyone else when it was their own unruly behaviour and arrogance that caused them to lose the two recent by-elections in spectacular fashion.

But the irony of Pakatan’s rants about how people do not care about corruption by voting for BN is not lost to us. It is so easy for them to rant about corruption yet not a single one of these politicians are able to explain why the Selangor government under their control is bulldozing several highway projects through forest reserves and metres away from densely-populated condominiums.

Despite residents having pointed out all the illegal steps the Selangor government has taken to approve the highways, despite the lawsuits that were filed with injunctions, the land acquisition payments are being done and work on these highways will start in August.

We are tired of trying to make an uncaring government listen to reason. We are tired of pointing out these projects have 65-years of concession to collect toll. We are tired of pointing out that it is the taxpayers who will subsidise the rates like existing highway concession agreements.

We are also tired of being asked by the media what’s our next course of action. As residents, we are not paid to fight these projects. We are ordinary citizens with jobs and families. We have already devoted six years of doing research, citing laws, getting NGOs to debunk the Environmental Impact Assessment reports and even raised thousands of ringgit to hold public rallies.

Instead of constantly asking us what we plan to do, why not ask all the Pakatan assemblypersons what they plan to do instead? Why not ask them how they can go about betraying their election manifesto to stop tolled-highways and stop crony projects instead? Isn't it the job of the assemblypersons to talk about government policies? That is why our assemblypersons have a salary of RM11,000 a month, right?

Consequently, we would also like to congratulate the win by BN in the recent by-elections. We started off hating everything BN stood for because it was BN that started all these highway projects nonsense. But in our fight for fairness and justice, it was Pakatan that played middleman and facilitated these BN crony projects to proceed.

So if we are going to get screwed anyway, if the Selangor government we voted for wants to be a sell-out, we definitely do not need these Pakatan politicians to reap the benifits by simply playing middleman.

Finally, to Elizabeth Wong or any other PKR candidate contesting in our neighbourhood, never come back to our neighbourhood. Ever. You’re fired.

Say No To Dash (SNTD) represents the voice of residents opposing the Dash Highway alignment in the Damansara Segment of the proposed highway.
