Please allow me to have my small contribution towards this latest controversy over the request by MCA for more Chinese schools to be built under the 9th Malaysia Plan

There have been so many arguments forwarded for the construction of more Chinese schools and there are totally based on a need and a demand by the citizens of Malaysia who are all are taxpayers.

The only argument against the building of Chinese schools is the need to forge unity amongst the ciitizens. This is the national policy and hence the education policy is tailored towards the achievement of national unity.

I really do not know how what to say about the national schools which are supposed to be the premier schools of the country. I am sure many people can highlight many things happening there which may not be promoting national unity.

The vision schools? What chances are there that they will promote unity? Unity policies are drawn up with good intentions but eventually they go on to achieve the opposite results. I do not know why but I can guess.

During festive seasons, we always never fail to promote Malaysia as an example of 'Unity in diversity' but in education we now have 'Disunity in diversity'. Can we please make up our minds?

And whatever happened to those promises made during all those general elections?
