I am going to be short about this.

I am going to yell at the next person who touts teaching our schoolchildren in Mandarin simply because China is a rising economy.

Look here my fellow Malaysians, it is ridiculous to justify teaching our kids French because France is next on the global hegemony list or Japanese because Japan is the next economic giant. Get a grip.

The purpose of mother-tongue education at the primary level is to assist students who are not native speakers of Bahasa Malaysia to acquire a second language to help them catch up with the rest at the secondary level.

That is, before a bunch of goons perverted the idea and turned it into a racial and communal issue. Read up on bilingual education and its purposes before commenting. And I dare the next brainwashed victim of the Chinese education movement to tout that UN resolution .

I will keep my retort for that piece of propaganda for another time.
