I would like to address the few illogical statements made by Progressive Bumi . Of late, there has been a plethora of interest to find out where our politicians send their children for education.

Apparently, politicians must now thoroughly politicise their life and bar their children (and future sons/daughters in-law too if possible) from Oxford, Cambridge, Harvard, Yale and Princeton.

The level of thinking among some Malaysians has now struck a new low. Only totally misguided individuals believe that changing the medium of instruction to English will solve our public education woes.

To make matters worse, many people pack the public education issue with patriotism, nationalism, unity and communal identity. And now we blame the high number of unemployed graduates on the use of the national language.

I am sorry, but I have missed the point about the consultant of a huge plantation company looking for graduates with a working knowledge in English as related in Progressive Bumi's letter.

If there are employers foolish enough to overlook talents because they can't speak a foreign tongue, it is their own loss, plain and simple. I have had quite enough of greedy employers who want everything on the cheap.

Singapore has been absorbing our talents regardless of the medium of instruction they have been taught in. Perhaps the biggest slap on our face is the fact that thousands and thousands of Malaysians have been recruited to bloom in the Lion City's workforce, while our own industry leaders have done nothing to help the government keep these investments from going abroad.
