I refer to the letter Terrorism has nothing to do with Palestine . I am surprised how a person of the writer's calibre still does not understand how the majority of Muslims feel about US President George W Bush administration's unfair treatment of the Palestinians.
The writer does not have to go far, he can ask any Muslim in this country and I can bet that the majority of them would not agree with the American policy. Not only are the Palestinians deprived of a homeland, they are left undefended to be dehumanised by the Israelis.
We all know that the country of Israel was created by the Western allies as a result of the Balfour Treaty. Israel was created at the expense of the Palestinians who had no say at all.
Rather than die without doing anything, they have taken to blowing up themselves up (to kill their enemies) in order to avenge their injustice. Of course, the religion of Islam do not encourage this but the Palestinians believe they are dying in the course of defending their religion.
Muslims believe that they are brothers and that they are duty bound to help one another. It is only natural that Muslims in other parts of the world feel threatened if their brothers in Islam are dehumanised as the Palestinians have been. In fact, many would volunteer to fight for them.
Although acts of terror also occur in other parts of the world as pointed out by the writer, one would notice that their targets were mostly the Americans or their allies or their interests .
I am not saying or implying that the Quran encourages Muslims to commit terrorism but Muslims are also just ordinary human beings. One would not just keep quiet if one is being pushed to the limits.
America and its allies must stop the unfair policies against the Palestinians if they are really serious about stopping terrorism.
