Two-term limit was not suggested during Dr M’s premiership

We refer to the article in The Malay Mail Online on Saturday Sept 23, 2016 where Mukhriz Mahathir speaks on the two-term policy for the appointed prime minister.

The Malaysian Associated Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (MAICCI) is of the opinion that the proposal by Mukhriz on introducing a term bar for the prime minister to two terms if they obtain a mandate in the 14th general election will be a political gimmick. As we all know former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad had lead this country for 22 years but such a term bar was not suggested during his regime of leadership.

Dr Mahathir has tried everything possible to oust Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak due to his political differences with the current government. He has orchestrated the 1MDB issue in every angle until he does not know how to squeeze that issue any more. Thereafter, he has started various other tactics including the ties with his nemesis in DAP and Parti Keadilan but all has failed to materialise.

Now, he worked up a new political party known as Parti Pribumi Bersatu with all the political dropouts to turn the tide against the duly elected government of the country.

MAICCI urge not only Dr Mahathir but whoever is trying to topple down the government and the current prime minister to stop immediately. The country’s stability and the unity that we have now are the seed of the growth of our nation. We must be united and think forward for the betterment of current and the future generation.

MAICCI strongly support the current government led by Najib and the nation will achieve the status of high income nation and will progress beyond Vision 2020.
