There has been a continuous debate over the redelineation proposal by the Election Commission (EC) for the last few weeks. Objections have been mounting from both sides of the political divide. It’s not necessary to jump over this redelineation because at the end of the day the voters will decide who to vote for during elections.

If Pakatan thinks they are favoured and the people are with them, why are they so worried about this redelineation exercise? If Pakatan feels that EC has violated the law in ‘redrawing of boundaries’, my one sen advice to them is file your complaints.

Political leaders should not confuse the voters and people over this redelineation exercise because this is not going to affect anyone looking at the current seats composition i.e. the parliamentary seats of Kepong, Sri Petaling (Seputeh) and Cheras have more than 95 percent Chinese voters compared to Malays and Indians in Wilayah Persekutuan.

Why has no one questioned about the Chinese voters percentage in these seats all this while? Why the sudden fear when the racial composition of the Malays increases in the other seats? How could this be a racial threat?

Even in these constituencies, people are living without threat to racial unity. My question, how could the redelineation exercise pose a threat? The opposition, especially Pakatan, should not instigate the people over this issue nor drag the people and question racial unity over this redrawing of boundaries. At the end of the day, the voters will decide, so let EC do their work.
