Matthias Chang, ex-practising lawyer and ex-press secretary of Dr Mahathir Mohamad, was quick to tell Anwar Ibrahim to show evidence or shut up .
Where was Matthias when the Anwar's case was in progress? Did he not watch Mahathir's accusation on national television? Yet Mahathir did not deem it necessary to attend court to tender whatever evidence he claimed to have. His assurance that Anwar was in safe hands turned out to be a black eye under the hands of the then police chief.
If Mohd Ezam Mohd Nor's example is anything to go by, Anwar will be asking for trouble under the Official Secrets Act.
There are enough literature on what has generally been perceived as Mahathir's interference with the judiciary, which makes him less credible. Suffice to say, it is not too late for Mahathir and Anwar to trash it out in the courts. People are hoping that Mahathir will take court action so that more evidence under oath will be made available to show whose evidence can stand up in court.
