‘Racial unity utmost priority for the prime minister’

Pertubuhan Aduan Rakyat (PAR) Malaysia agrees with Deputy Prime Minister YAB Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s statement that Prime Minister YAB Najib Abdul Razak has been very fair to all races from day one of his tenure as the premier of the country.

He has introduced various policies and programmes to bring and unite the various races in the country. We can vouch for this because it is a fact and we cannot judge him based on his speech at the Umno general assembly. The speech delivered by him at Umno’s general assembly as its president is fitting because the party represents and champions the Malay rights in the country.

If we look at it, there is nothing wrong with the speech which I feel was spoken from his heart and touched on various issues affecting Umno today, the struggles and the challenges he is facing as the president of Umno and prime minister of the country.

Despite all of this, as the prime minister till today, he has carried out his duties in taking care of the multiracial society on the demands and requirements for their well-being.

It’s a silly comment from Pakatan Harapan secretary-general Saifuddin Abdullah who is just ignorant and should look beyond racial lines and also understand that this is Umno’s AGM.

Similarly in MCA’s AGM, they will be talking about the Chinese agenda and in MIC’s AGM definitely about the Indians agenda. So can Pakatan Harapan explain how could the Umno president’s speech lead to racial disaster? I am very sure in PAS’s AGM, PAS is only going to talk about Islam, their agenda and their rights and nothing else, so can we say PAS is racist?

It is becoming very silly and petty that the opposition have got nothing else to pick on but issues like this to create uneasiness among the multiracial society.
