I don't understand the hysteria whipped up by malaysiakini over Edmund Terence Gomez's career change.

The associate professor with Universiti Malaya, if I am not mistaken, failed to get no-pay leave to take up a lucrative contract assignment elsewhere. He has choices and all are good.

Apparently the other issue is how valuable he is to the university. Surely the university is the best judge of this?

If he is good enough, any university - including local ones - would take him after he has finished his project.

What then, is your agenda?
