Amidst the brouhaha on APs, MDP's Wee Choo Kiong's challenge to Lim Kit Siang to disclose whether he had been awarded an AP and if so, whether he had sold them, stands out as one with a narrow personal agenda.

Since day one, MDP has been attacking DAP which makes it seem like a party vying for a place in the Barisan Nasional coalition. In fact, it should be called Malaysian Anti-DAP Party for its obsession.

Without knowing the real reason for his leaving the DAP, I can only guess that Wee's bitterness towards his ex-boss has narrowed his objectives to border on personal pettiness. Surely there are many more serious national issues concerning corruption, transparency and accountability which require more watchdog role models.

If each member of parliament is entitled to one AP, then Lim and other DAP MPs could only have sold only one AP each, if at all. Instead of attacking the unfair and disproportionate issuing of APs to a select few, Wee rather takes a swipe at Lim.

Lim has actually challenged the Minister for International Trade and Industry to disclose all APs issued over the years particularly those issued to ministers, deputy ministers, parliamentary secretaries and also those issued to other individuals.

So if Lim had been issued any, it will be disclosed anyway. Therefore, Wee's challenge seems like cheap publicity to be in the good books of Barisan Nasional.
