I refer to your report AP scandal: 48-hr deadline for Kit Siang .
Everyone is certainly innocent until proven guilty in the legal process, but, politically, it is also the moral responsibility of the Parliamentary Opposition Leader and DAP chairman Lim Kit Siang to publicly answer Wee Choo Keong whether there any DAP leaders or legislators had received APs and had become, consciously or otherwise, part of the Umno's system of corruption, cronyism and nepotism.
The public as well as DAP's grassroots are also keen to know if DAP's top leadership is as incorruptible as it always claims to be. DAP's grassroots and non-affiliated supporters should also demand to know from Lim whether any of its top leaders and legislators are hidden beneficiaries of Umno's system of corruption, cronyism and nepotism.
This is also the time for Lim Kit Siang to practise what he always preaches: public transparency and public accountability of public figures.
Wee may not be right ultimately but as a qualified and well-established lawyer in town, his allegation deserves due attention on its own merit. It cannot be simply dismissed, as Lim has done, as only being 'mischievous'.
Lim must also not try to divert public attention by saying that he has more scandals to expose involving the Barisan Nasional. He and the top DAP leadership must first come clean on this very specific issue raised by Wee.
If Wee is lying and defamatory, Lim should not hesitate to instruct Karpal Singh to sue Wee for libel and defamation.
So, to cut it short, Lim must first respond to Wee's allegation by answering 'Yes' or 'No'.
