What the government can do this Merdeka to appease the rakyat:

Fire all politicians and civil servants who have dubious records.

Make the ACA an independent body and let it net all those corrupt people.

Discard the Internal Security Act.

Telecast or webcast live the proceedings of the Dewan Rakyat via a dedicated channel.

Publish on the Internet all proceedings at municipal council meetings.

Make public details of all government tenders (except military ones). Let a committee comprising professionals and interested parties evaluate these tenders first.

Create a standard format for 'sales and purchase' agreements for housing loans to protect buyers. All such transaction should through escrow companies. Ensure that housing developers have sufficient funds and credibility before they are permitted to start any project.

Make available on the Internet details of land titles and who their owners are.

Set up a Speaker's Corner a la Hyde Park, London in all states to allow voices be heard. Do put up warnings that it will be illegal to use such space to incite racial hatred and such.

Have public whipping for thieves, muggers etc. Execute drug kingpins and pushers by firing squad. They are to die anyway.
