I am glad and proud that award-winning malaysiakini was again right in assessing the 'solemn hurt and disillusioned mood' of the majority of Malaysians when we 'celebrated' the nation's 48 Independence Day!

Your report on the issue was exhaustive and well-documented, and kudos to the team who put it together without fear nor favour!

Of late, it is clear that there is a strong tendency to create unnecessary controversies along racial lines and it was also done barely weeks before a 'show' was put up 'celebrating the nation's 48 Independence Day in Putrajaya.

In my mind, yes, 'a show' barely weeks after minority groups were 'verbally abused and challenged' by a young inexperienced politician holding a keris in one hand and shouting unintelligently and without basis, and for reasons totally unacceptable in this age and time!

Whether the reason for the controversy is to attract or distract from the 'real problems the nation is facing' or for some young brash political wannabees to attract attention, score political points and win votes borne on the cloud of ultraism is a strong belief and contention held among matured Malaysians from all walks of life and racial background.

These individuals do not realise that they are really playing a 'broken record' which is 'out of shelf life' in the wake of new and emerging threats from Asian giants China and India and globalisation.

These individuals who are so used to various forms of 'handouts' and 'favouritism' are certainly 'out of date' for they know not how to tackle the more important 'issues and challengers' facing this country!

As a result, Malaysia for all it stands for is mocked and if our founding fathers were alive today, they would be totally disillusioned and saddened at the manner certain politically connected and dominant groups and vernacular media are behaving.

At this rate and if unfettered more tensions are unnecessarily created which threatens all that Malaysians of all walks and race have worked for.
