Chin Peng's reason for returning to Malaysia is a lame excuse. He has to bear the consequences of what he did, and it was something obviously very wrong. His past acts are not "nationalism", but were ones which used brutal force and wicked ways to demoralise the rakyat.

His return to the country reflects his selfishness again, because it brings no hope and no benefits to the rakyat. If he is allowed to return to Malaysia, where is that hope for nationalism, the pride of being a Malaysian and especially the memory of all the brave soldiers, policemen and ordinary rakyat who fought and died to maintain the freedom we are enjoying this day.

Neither is Chin Peng's return fair for those who are serving to keep this country safe and sound today.

I suggest malaysiakini make an unofficial survey to seek views on the return of Chin Peng. Most important, present a series of objective articles on the history of communism in Malaysia. Please bring the results to the prime minister to give him a better view of the rakyat's perspective.

This survey will also help the young generation to value what 'Merdeka' all about - it is not just freedom from the British whom our forefathers (Tunku Abdul Rahman, Tan Cheng Lok, VT Sambanthan etc) achieved, but it is also freedom from communism.

I guess Chin Peng should just retire gracefully. I have heard many stories from both sides of the fences. My conclusion is that 'what you sow, so shall you reap'.
