I am right in saying that the MIC is no longer relevant to the Indian Malaysian. This is further proven by its incumbent president, who said in a recent statement that MIC will soon 'close shop'. Not sure whether it will before or after Deepavali. It depends on the president's mood, I suppose.
I wonder, why? Samy Vellu, S Subramaniam, G Palanivel, MG Pandithan and many other Indian leaders are doing so well economically on their own but the community that they represent is not. Something is not right, is it?
I feel sad and disappointed with what is going on in this country with regards to my community. I do agree that the problems faced by the community are not economic alone but primarily social too.
The MIC, Indian NGOs, temple organisations are not acting uniformly nor are united in their struggle to uplift the standard of living of Indian Malaysians.
MIC should act to unify the community by bringing all Indian-based political parties and NGOs under one umbrella. But will the president be ever prepared to forgo his ego and put aside political rivalry in inviting those outside the MIC to sit at one table?
All of us should learn from MCA see how they champion issues in collaborating with Gerakan, Chinese NGOs and sometimes even the DAP.
Wake up MIC or otherwise the Indian community will look for an alternative party.
