I cannot agree more with the letter by R Ramachandran entitled Indians mustn't give up on equity target .
However, the solution to the current situation that plagues Malaysians of Indian ethnicity is complex and needs a non-political and totally radical approach.
Just like how companies that want to be market leaders come up with strategic business plans to grow their businesses and to conquer new markets, this problem would need to be tackled with the same tenacity.
For a start, I would like S Samy Vellu to take the lead. I believe that there are many Malaysians who want to help by investing their time and leveraging on their experience but just do not know how to contribute towards this effort.
Samy Vellu should start by forming a leadership team under his auspices by inviting Malaysians who want to be part of this cause. Preferably, this team should comprise of professionals in the areas of education, business and entrepreneurship and more importantly, social reform.
In short, this initiative would need to be run like a business venture with a social agenda. Anything short of that would yield the same results that we are all too accustomed to.
Maybe malaysiakini can start the ball rolling by kicking off this initial meeting with Samy Vellu. Please count me in. I am also sure all those who have commented about the MIC leader's frustration on this issue will also want to contribute too.
