It is indeed a sad moment in the history of our nation as we share in the grief of the news of the demise of our First Lady Endon Mahmood.

To our much loved Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and his family members, we are with you in your deepest moment of silent grief and pain and our prayers remain with you.

Today, we are reminded again as a nation of people of the fragility of life and its precious contribution. We are humbled by the loss of our First Lady who has always been a source of strength to all the women of our beloved country.

Surely the late First Lady's support, inspiration and loyalty to her husband, too, has given the nation a leader who is so resolute in leading a nation of diverse cultures and in fighting corruption at all cost.

To our prime minister, we pray for your strength in this deepest moment of loss. May The Merciful Almighty grant our late First Lady the peace of heaven.

Today will also mark a deep lesson in the hearts of all Malaysians that here is a man who despite his greatest loss in life, dedicates his life to serve us. Here is a man, who in his quite lonely moments, will still pledge to fight the weaknesses in our systems and practices all for the love of God, King, and country.

The least we, the ordinary citizens and leaders of industry and politics, can do is to marshal our allegiance and commitment to fight the war on corruption together with Pak Lah's determination.

We must stand behind this man and work with him as he steadfastly continues the battle to lead the country all alone without his endearing and sadly missed wife.
