The only way for the Indians to get government support is to abandon the MIC. Make it clear to the BN component parties that whenever a MIC candidate is fielded in an election, the Indians will not vote for that candidate.
The Chinese and Malays will hopefully follow suit and eventually there will be no MIC representation in the government. How will this help the Indians?
At present, what is happening is that the government channels most of the aid meant for the Indians to the MIC and feels that its obligations to the Indian community are fulfilled by these acts of munificence knowing fully well that most of it never reaches the ordinary Indians.
After more than 20 years as MIC president, S Samy Vellu is still seen begging for handouts. Isn't it time that the Indians started to act smart and get rid of the MIC? Or at the very least its president and his lap dogs?
It would be far more effective if the Indians leverage their 7 or 8 % of the population and make representation directly to the government bypassing the MIC.
