I read with dismay the arrogance and insensitivity displayed by the Jerai MP Badruddin Amiruldin regarding the use of the word 'keling' when referring to Indians.

There is much that I would want to say but I prefer not to as I do not want to reduce myself to his level.

However, to put it quite simply, he lacks understanding and cultural knowledge, let alone common sense. This is not the first time he has said it, and I believe, won't be the last either.

If all it takes is a simple retraction to forgive him, then I am aghast at the decision of such a respectable institution as the Parliament. Going by the same logic, if I were to utter seditious remarks against other races in the country in a public manner, can I be forgiven with just a retraction?

The MP has insulted all Indians. Not only the MP but BN as well when its members did not condemn such a blatant act save for SK Devamany. What is the point of asking the rest of Malaysia to observe sensitivities when you don't even do it in Parliament? How ironic.

It was no slip of tongue. It was sheer arrogance knowing that he could get away with it, since it was mentioned in Parliament. What a shame that the very people we choose to represent us are the very people who abuse us.

To the MP of Jasin, Mohd Said Yusof, please do go ahead and change Tanjung Keling to Tanjung India. I couldn't care less the historic significance, if all it's doing is providing you an avenue to justify your uncouth behaviour.
