We have read and followed reports of how immigrant workers have been so badly treated in our country. Things are akin to the days of slavery. Yet the question remains - what have we learnt from these episodes?

Then we had the whole Anwar Ibrahim saga. This revealed how long it took the police force to admit its own mistakes. The veracity of its own internal investigations led to serious concerns. The episode also revealed how little the then Home Minister knew about what had transpired.

Then we had the Royal Police Commission and its report which even looked into cases of death while in custody. What has happened to the report and the commission's 125 recommendations?

Now we have the cases of how foreign women are humiliated and abused. This has been going on for sometime. If only others had the courage to come forward we would hear a lot more of police abuse, even of those who have legitimate documents.

The entire police force needs a revamp. When will serious action be taken?
