Driving to work today we heard the news on "nude squat incident" again. My wife commented, "Are they still talking about this?" I could not have agreed more.

If we as a nation have to deliberate weeks upon weeks on something that is obviously wrong and have senior civil servants spend countless hours of their time, then I hate to think about the more serious matters involving the economy and national security. Who in Putrajaya is looking after these important things?

It should not take two independent commissions to tell the nation that the Royal Malaysian Police force is undisciplined, inefficient, lacking in honesty, and a force unto themselves. It should not have taken two months to say that nude squats are wrong.

We made such a fuss about Abu Ghraib, but over here the police are not far from being guilty of such offences themselves. Just ask former deputy prime minister Anwar Ibrahim or his former assistant Munawar Anees. The home affairs minister should have had some heads rolling by now. It is a shame this has not happened.
