Many have highlighted the importance of religion for all communities in this country and I could not agree more that non-Muslims should be allowed to have more places of worship where we can bring our families, especially our young children, to be taught about God.

We all know that it is important to teach our children at a very young age for them to have a strong cornerstone of beliefs and moral standards in their formative years. This can happen if the authorities actively promote religious tolerance and do not look upon non-Muslims as a threat. We truly hope that the authorities will be more understanding when non-Muslims write in for approval to have proper places of worship.

There is also another need and that is to allow our television and radio stations to broadcast religious messages to those who for one reason or another, may not be able to go to church or temples. Why do we allow broadcasts of violence, witchcraft and subtle immorality on TV and not positive values like belief in God?

Our national battle is no longer communism but moral decadence, corruption, crime and breakdown of family values and structure. Teaching our young people about God and instilling godly values in them would be the right step and this should be well promoted among the non- Muslims of this country.

How can we do this with the limited avenues and places for worship? Religious beliefs are no longer taught or actively promoted among non-Muslims in most of our public schools or places of education.

We hope that our government would review the matter to help us non-Muslims instill one of the important tenets of Rukun Negara 'Belief in God' - in our families and children.
