I remember years ago before the Penang Bridge was built, certain politicians commented that there is no need for the bridge and that they are quite happy with the ferry service. At that time, if you had asked someone who had to cross the sea everyday, he will tell you that the politicians were talking through their noses.

Likewise when Paul Ooi compared the price of petrol with developed countries, he forgot to mention the differences in the cost of cars, the road taxes, the quality of the roads and the emission standards of the cars and vehicles between Malaysia and these developed countries.

As a Malaysian living abroad, it is also deplorable that he forgot the Malaysia is still a net exporter of petroleum whereas many of these countries are net importers. I need not elaborate more but if he should think and analyse the points I mentioned above and put himself in the position that we Malaysians are in, he should keep his comments to himself.

The man in the street is hurt and angry, we do not need those who feel it is more rosy to live overseas to rub more salt into our wounds. Thank you.
