While I appreciate the efforts by Awam's president to speak out for the girls in tudung and otherwise, I must say that she really has no inkling about 'aurat' issues.

For Muslim boys, they are not expected to wear the songkok or long pants in the field or anywhere. Their 'aurat' is between their navel and the knee. It is these kind of careless and needless mistakes by women's groups who claim to champion Muslim causes which encourages Muslim NGOs to call for censorship by non-Muslims on talking about Islam.

Perhaps the Awam president needs to occasionally 'turun ke-padang' and meet with grassroots and community groups to understand these cultural differences. Is Awam membership all non-Muslim/non-Malay that she has absolutely no knowledge of such a mundane matter as the male 'aurat'?
