We must agree that this is no way to treat any Malaysian. What the police have done to the mother is just not acceptable from the perspective of human dignity. Whatever be the race or religion of an individual, there must be a sense of human dignity. In this case, the treatment handed out by the police is just not acceptable.

The police have a job to do but they have taken the law into their own hands and we have had enough evidence of this fact. Imagine the state of affairs when the chief judge herself has to give the comments she did about the deaths in police custody.

Reformation of the police force will only take place with the necessary rules are in place and accountability enforced. The Independent Police Complaints and Misconduct Commission (IPCMC) is critical for this to take place. Let us be serious about the realities we face.
