Cancelling the crooked bridge was the right and brave thing for Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi to do. The irony of the bridge was that it served to divide more than to bridge two countries.
It is a mark of Abdullah Ahmad Badawi's leadership that he chooses to focus on work that bridges peoples and communities rather structures that showcases our penchant for the absurd.
To equate the discontinuity of the bridge project to the violation of our sovereignty is ridiculous, and typical of the divisive politics practised by ex-prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
We have so much more in common with Singapore than we have differences; we should focus on common ground to improve relations for mutual benefit.
