I am deeply saddened by a certain recent event. Normally, we make this remark on the demise of someone whom we care for or love. Such a demise has occurred - our parliamentary democracy.

The fact that Shahrir Abdul Samad acted out of concern for the sanctity of parliamentary democracy speaks volumes, more so when he is the BBC chairperson and did not concern himself with the fact that the motion was proposed by the opposition.

It has always been my nagging feeling that Pak Lah had not been honest with us. The honesty and integrity he had been preaching to the Malaysian public is just cheap talk. His deputy is a pale shadow waiting for his chance to bite.

An MP can bluff his way around and still have the guts to say it is none of our business to question his business dealings. There were chapattis and pancakes to support this guy because they all have the same reason to lie and cheat.

I think it is time that we have a PM who has the trust of the general populace and who can rein in corruption and be honest with us. The best person would be Shahrir himself. He had never tarnished his image the shameful way the others had. He had never been greedy of power or position. He is starkly uncorrupt and he walks his talk.

So, Malaysians, let us have that quality of an honest life and encourage him to go for this post. When he walked out as a matter of principle, he already won with a thumping majority. If we need to clean up the stinking mess, it should be Shahrir.

I hope he will pick up the courage and for the sake of a better Malaysia, take on the present leaders even if it has to be outside the party. He would be surprised by the tremendous support for him to be the next PM. It is about time that we hear someone whom we can trust. I am really fed up, sick and tired of all the lies, lies and more lies.
