Christ asked that we turn our other cheek to an enemy who strikes us. The PM is Muslim, but I can see that his strategy of "turning the other cheek" has worked extremely well for him. By saying so very little, and aided by a sympathetic media, the PM has emerged from Mahathir's verbal attacks looking like a saint. (And Mahathir, a bully.)

However, lest the PM is now convinced that non-response is the best response, I would strongly urge him to re-think his silence on many unresolved issues of constitutional rights facing our nation.

Time and again, opportunities have come up for him to set the record straight and stand up for what is right and fair. Time and again, our hopes have been dashed with disappointing silence. Where is the moral leadership, justice and sense of fairness?

Instead of promoting open dialogue and discussion on these critical issues which affect all of us, the PM has even recently warned members of the public not to tread on "dangerous ground" lest the government has to use the Sedition Act against them!

Following the attack by his predecessor, the PM has said he was deeply touched by the outpouring of sympathy and support from so many Malaysians. Well, good for him. Now we ask that he reciprocates the goodwill and be prime minister for all Malaysians just as he promised at the start of his term in office.
