Tan Sri Ahmad Noordin Zakaria, the former auditor-general who passed away on Wednesday, was an example of a "Towering Malay" and the way he had been treated is an example of what such good and ethical men had to face in our society.
Humble, humane and concerned for his fellow men and women, he strived to ensure accountability and transparency. He was amongst the pioneers who spoke out in this regard.
He was also very multi-racial in his approach and a true Malaysian. As an ordinary Malaysian who respected and had the privilege of interacting with him on several occasions, I felt it a great privilege to have at least seen him at his home on Wednesday,
May Allah bless this good soul and may his family find strength over these days.
