In my opinion, anyone who causes disharmony and build walls instead of bridges, should be sacked. That is not what God wants and not found in any world religions text. All human doing.

I so happened to wake up early one morning and heard the Muslim morning call to prayer from a distance, faintly, slightly different timings from at least five different mosques. I joined them in prayer, though I didn't understand a word they said. And I thought to myself, wouldn't it be wonderful if the prayers were recited in our national language which the entire population can understand and unite in prayer five times a day nationwide?

From what I learned about Islam at the 'Understanding Religions in Malaysia' course conducted by Saint Francis Xavier's Church jointly with Sasana Abhiwurdhi Wardhana Society and Buddhist Missionary Society of Malaysia (Feb 18 - April 8, 2006), Islam is such a beautiful peace-loving religion that embraces everyone with love and in harmony with all.

But the ,the actions of 'non-Islamic Muslims' (for lack of a better word) give Islam such a bad name. We should really address the 'whys' of this and find the solutions to the problem. Is it because Prophet Muhammad's messages of universal love are not getting down to the children and the people in their mother-tongue, hence it's not part of their being as in other religions? Otherwise, why? I don't get it.

Anyway, for a start, let's all thank God that our prime minister and his team is Islam expressed and demonstrated. That a great thing for there can be:

  • No peace among the nations without peace among the religions;

  • No peace among the religions without dialogue between the religions;
  • No dialogue between the religions without research into the foundations of the religions.
