Reading Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi's speech to the general assembly of the Malaysian Indian Congress certainly has riled me up.

Apparently he said: 'Barisan Nasional component parties should transcend communal interests to realise Vision 2020, which is of paramount importance to all Malaysians'. At this point I just could not read anymore.

Do you think that Abdullah, or for that matter any Umno leader, would have the audacity of making such a statement to Umno delegates? Here he is speaking to the most inconsequential party (politically speaking) and the most disadvantaged community who could do so much better with just a tenth of the help extended to the bumiputeras.

And he expects them to compromise for the national good? Indeed, is there such a thing as 'national good'? Or is it for the 'good of bumiputeras'?

I would hope that everyone erase from their memories these politically correct speeches as they are nothing but absolute nonsense. There will only be sincerity and truth to the speech and his appeal if these words were first spoken to an Umno audience.

It is sad that we are now saddled with this half-past six prime minister who heads a half-past six administration. But it is unforgivable when hypocrisy rules the day.
