I found the letter Petronas and the Sudanese genocide very amusing. Let me clarify why the Malaysian government has not condemned what is taking place in Sudan. It is not because of the oil or whatever. It is because the Malaysian government like the Sudanese government and many other governments know the facts about what's really taking place in Sudan.

As a Sudanese, I have more insight on why things are they way they are. What is happening in Sudan is not genocide; it's simply a civil war between tribes in Sudan that started years back.

Let me take you back a couple of years, back when the American's reported that the oil supply in Sudan was not worth extracting and is of bad quality. This was when Mobil was there and it subsequently left Sudan, leading people to believe there was no hope left in their oil.

The Sudanese government called Petronas in to investigate, and surprise, surprise, Petronas Carigali found out that the Sudanese people were sitting on oil wells not only of good quality of oil and in abundance, but since the oil was land-based it would be much cheaper to extract when compared to offshore oil.

Was America happy with what was discovered? Obviously not. So they decided it was time to control the oil in Sudan just like they control the oil in Iraq. That's why they are blowing up this whole genocide thing out of proportion. Yes, there is trouble in Sudan, in west Sudan to be specific, but that's no where near Petronas' operations.

The Sudanese government is not supporting any genocide or anything of the sort. That's all fabrications by the West to try to convince the media and the people that they have reasons to move in to Sudan and eventually throw out the strongest Sudanese government in history. Just like they deceived us about Iraq having nuclear weapons, hey are now basically saying 'Look, world! Sudan is having trouble in Darfur. Let's move in and take over the oil business'.

Anyone accusing the government in Sudan of such awful things is blind for the current government is the best government Sudan has had since independence. This government was the very same one that managed to sign a peace agreement one year ago ending the civil war between the north and south that lasted over 20 years.

This is the very same government that brought in Petronas which has helped extract the oil in Sudan for her people and the economy. The Sudanese government is doing all it can to stop any unrest and there are a number of African troops present in Darfur and are trying to enforce safety for everyone.

Why other countries and Malaysia have not condemned what's happening in Darfur is because they know what they read. They don't buy American accusations of genocide and they know Sudan and the Sudanese government very well.
