I like the speculation in Kim Quek's letter on Najib Razak making a bid for the top job in cahoots with Dr Mahathir Mohamad in London.
Observed from here in London, the speculations make no sense simply because Najib would have learnt the simple lesson of past deputy prime ministers, especially the Anwar Ibrahim episode.
Why would a rational man risk everything today to try and become PM when he will almost certain be PM at no risk tomorrow?
As for the presence of Dr M and Najib in London, the reasons may be more mundane. The defence minister was in Farnborough (with a large entourage I may add) for the air show and Dr was probably doing a bit of shopping with his wife - the sort of thing dozens of dignitaries from Malaysia do in London from time to time (the Harrods sale is in July).
