I have one advice for Umno Youth Deputy Chief Khairy Jamaludin - stop wasting man hours on so-called street protests against Israeli atrocities in West Asia. Instead just ask your father-in-law to do his job as OIC chairman.

There has been more that one event which proved that Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi is a total failure as OIC chairman.

When Danish newspapers carried cartoons ridiculing the Prophet Muhammad, Abdullah was the last to issue a statement. He did not lift a finger to do anything until the issue became so serious that Muslims worldwide started throwing firebombs at Danish embassies all over the world.

And when Israel bombarded Palestine and Lebanon recently, killing hundreds or maybe even thousands of innocent Muslim men, women and children, Malaysia did not even initiate an emergency meeting of the OIC. If Abdullah is concerned about the well-being of Muslims worldwide as he so often claims, this should have been the first thing he should have done. But he failed.

Now we have given more credence to the claim by the West that the OIC is not united and should be denounced as being a mere 'talk shop' outfit.

The Malaysian chairmanship of OIC is almost up now. Three years as chairman of OIC is a long time. But what did OIC achieve under the Malaysian stewardship? More atrocities on Muslim nations, that's what. Under the Malaysian chairmanship, we brought more shame upon the OIC.

Street demonstrations like those led by Khairy over the last two Fridays will not resolve problems faced by Muslims in Palestine and Lebanon.

It doesn't do Malaysia any good either because it makes us look like an unruly lot. It is a mere waste of time. Those who take part in the street demonstrations should instead return to their offices after the Friday prayers and get some work done.

Khairy doesn't have a real job so there's no worry about losing it. But he should at least be concerned about the others.
