Abu Mubarak has given his views clearly and fairly in arguing the legitimacy of the existence of Hezbollah. I personally feel that no one will argue against that. The crux of the argument is what is Hezbollah doing in Lebanon firing rockets into northern Israel?

Have they forgotten that on the Sept 2, 2004, the UN passed Resolution 1559 to disarm all Lebanese and non-Lebanese militia. In the event, the legitimate Lebanese government or its military refuses to control Hezbollah's activities, then only has Israeli to act in self-defence.

The raid into Israel territory and the capture of the two soldiers by Hezbollah cannot be justified. The Israeli government retaliated in a manner which Hezbollah understands and that is with force. On the other side of the border, in Palestine and Gaza, it is altogether a different story. Since the Fatah government was voted out in favour of Hamas, the kidnaping by Hamas of the sole Israeli soldier at Shebba Farm was an act of war by the Palestine Hamas government.

Some have argued that the kidnaping of the two soldiers by Hezbollah and the reaction of the Israeli Defence Force is disproportionate. On this point, ask the Americans whether the dropping of two atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki was a proportionate reaction to the bombing of Pearl Harbour by the Japanese.

Some of you may say that the UN is sterile and is unable to broker a cease-fire. I say that the UN is powerless to tell Israel that they should stop all military activities against Lebanon when they have the right only to self-defence. I feel the only way to stop this conflict - if it is not too late - is to revert to the status quo. Persuade Hezbollah to release the two prisoners to and stop firing rockets into Israeli territories. I am sure all hostilities can be stopped.

In the event Abu Mubarak thinks that this is a 'jihad' by Hezbollah to protect Muslims in Lebanon, I ask why I do not see any Arab countries actively or openly coming out in support of Hezbollah's action against Israel. Burning the Jewish or American flags are a waste of time.
